What is Dry Eye ,Causes and Management.

Dry eye is a condition in which a person doesn’t have quality tears to lubricate and nourish the eye. If it is untreated it may lead to infections, inflammation and vision problems.

Symptoms of Dry Eyes:

  • Burning or stinging sensation.
  • Eye fatigue and heaviness.
  • Itching.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Excessive watering.

The growing era of digital usage has increased the risk of dry eye development in the individuals of all ages. Some of the common causes of Dry Eyes:

  •  Dry eye is more common in people aged 50 years or older.
  • The extended visuals like mobiles, computers, reading, driving etc.
  • Contact lens and spectacle users.
  • Dry environments like windy, foggy or smoky.
  • Low humidity controlled air.
  • Allergies.
  • Medications.
  • Some health conditions like diabetes, thyroid disorders.

How to Manage Dry Eyes:

  • Give rest to your eyes and often try blink.
  • One should limit his exposure to air conditions.
  • Drink more of water.
  • One should have enough sleep.
  • Should wear sunglasses when going out.
  • Person working on computers should take frequent breaks to give rest to his eyes.

It is always advisable that one should always consult his medical practitioner.
